Dividend Yield

Annual cash payout as a percentage of the stock price

Definition

Dividend yield tells you how much annual income you receive in dividends for every dollar invested. It's like an interest rate on your investment from the company's cash distributions.

Annual Dividends Per Share ÷ Stock Price × 100

Example

If a stock pays $4/year in dividends and trades at $100, yield = 4%.
